Explorer won’t run at startup

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

I’ve received quite a few calls over the past few months about Explorer.exe not running at startup. There are several things that could cause this to happen, but what I have seen the most lately is that it is caused by an infection by the Win32/Oficla.E virus. For those of you that don’t know what I am referring to, here is the scenario… you turn your computer on for the day, you login like normal, after the login screen the hard drive will click for a while and then just stop with a blank screen (your wallpaper showing). You can move the mouse, etc., but no start menu or desktop icons. Here are few things that you can do:

First, in order to get to your Start Menu and your files, press Control-Alt-Delete. At the menu, click on Task Manager. From the Task Manager, you can click the file menu at the top and goto “Run”. Type in “explorer” or “explorer.exe” and hit ok. This should start explorer and cause the Start Menu to appear. (more…)

New Business Venture

Friday, March 12th, 2010

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new website, www.projectionmaterial.com! We haven’t publicized it much over the past year or so, but Laymance Technologies has been manufacturing projector screens for home movie theaters. Our new site is a web store that sells projector screen material to the public, we found that our clients want to purchase the material and build the frame themselves. The result is a very low cost home movie system with mega budget performance and looks.

So you may be asking, how much would something like this set me back?
It does of course depend on the size that you are needing; but consider this example, you can get the screen material for a 5×9 screen for just $24.00! Wanting something large for your outside parties? You can get screen material for a 9×22 screen for just $99.00!

What if I need something larger than what you are advertising?
No problem… our screen material comes in rolls that are 110″ wide, thats just a little larger than 9ft. We can cut a screen for you in one solid piece as long as one of the measurements doesn’t go over 110″ wide. However, if you need something larger than that, you have two options. You can buy the material by the foot, and then sew the pieces together, or we can have a local company sew it together for you… just contact us for more information.

What’s the largest screen that you have made?
We created a screen that we 30ft wide by 18ft tall! We have pictures of this screen on the home page of our site at .

Thats the basic overview of our projection screens and our new site, www.projectionmaterial.com, but feel free to contact us for more information. If you are looking to create a home theater system, we can help you out! Check out a picture below of an actual projection screen made with our material…

Apple Tablet is Coming

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Unless you have been living under a rock, you undoubtably have heard that Apple is about to introduce a new tablet computer.  Rumors are running wild, if you believe what you hear, it contains everything from cellular connectivity to a forward facing webcam.  What seems likely is that the tablet will run some form of the iPhone operating system, and will include some type of cellular connectivity, the only question is what carrier(s).  The tablet will also include an e-book reader in which you’ll be able to purchase books for reading on the tablet, similar to the Kindle by Amazon.

The big announcement comes tomorrow – January 27th at 1:00pm Eastern.  We’ll bring you more information after it becomes available.  One thing is for sure, the tablet is likely to create a large splash in the computer industry, much as the iPhone has in the telephone world.
